The Ohio Latino Affairs Commission is pleased to introduce new opportunities to support communities across Ohio. This newsletter highlights key focus areas such as Healthy Living, Education, Community, and Capital support, along with other grant opportunities in key areas! Our goal is to assist several groups of applicants including nonprofits, schools, community organizations, and individuals. Below, you’ll find information on available grants designed to meet the unique needs of Ohio’s communities. We encourage all eligible applicants to seize these opportunities and contribute to meaningful change.Eligible organizations or individuals are highly encouraged to explore these grants and apply to all available resources. Grant’s featured in this week’s newsletter include: 

America's Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) Fare Fund

Amount: $5,000,000
Eligibility: State Govt., County Govt., Non-Profit
Application Due Dates: Rolling

Summary: The purpose of this program is to support food supply chain resiliency; improve access to healthy foods in underserved areas; create and preserve quality jobs; and revitalize low-income communities by providing financial and technical assistance, either directly or through other partners and intermediaries, to eligible fresh, healthy food retailers and enterprises to overcome the higher costs and initial barriers to entry in underserved areas.

STEM Action Grant
Amount: $400,000

Eligibility: Non-profit

Application Due Date: March 5th, 2025

Summary: The purpose of this program is to bolster and support community-driven nonprofit organizations that are working to enhance the public's understanding of science and to increase the participation of under-represented populations in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. This program is intended to support innovative organizations using creative solutions to do work that will take action to inform, educate, and inspire people from all walks of life to pursue scientific endeavors.

Fisher Service Award

Amount: $400,000

Eligibility: Non-Profit
Application Due Date: March 6th, 2025
Summary: This program aims to recognize and celebrate innovative projects that support and strengthen military and veteran communities. Funding will support projects proposed by nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life for active duty, reserve, and National Guard members as well as veterans and/or their families. 
Awarding Agency: Fisher House Foundation and Military Times Foundation.

Livable Communities: Community Challenge

Amount: Varies

Eligibility: State Govt., City Govt., County Govt., Non-Profit
Application Due Date: March 5th, 2025
Summary: This program aims to make communities more livable for people of all ages with tangible improvements that jump-start long-term changes. This program is intended to ensure that communities provide safe and walkable streets; affordable and accessible housing and transportation options; access to needed services; and opportunities for residents, especially those age 50 and older, to participate in civic and community life.

Brady Education Foundation Grant

Amount: Varies

Eligibility: Higher Education, Non-Profit

Application Due Date: April 1st, 2025

Summary: The purpose of this program is to improve educational outcomes for children, including those living in marginalized communities, by promoting collaboration among researchers, educators, and stakeholders. Funding will support eligible non-profit organizations, including public or private colleges and universities, to implement research projects and program evaluations.

Capital Grants
Amount: Varies (Capital grants must have a 50%  match) 

Eligibility: Non-Profit
Application Due Date: Rolling
Summary: The purpose of this program is to meet the basic needs of people experiencing poverty by supporting nonprofit organizations that provide direct services to specific populations, including older adults, women, and children at risk, people with disabilities, veterans, and the Jewish community. Funding will support capital, general operating, and program-specific awards.
