“El Puente” Learning Center will provide a bridge for the Latino students from the Dayton Public Schools and non-public Schools to narrow the gap of identified academic shortcomings. The program will be a combined effort of the Wright State University College of Education and Human Services, Dayton Public Schools (DPS) and the League of Latin American Citizens (LULAC).
The center will be located at the Hispanic Catholic Ministry, which will be equipped with a computer lab provided by LULAC. The after school tutoring program will run from 2:00-6:00 Monday-Frid.
There will be future programming, which will involve English/Spanish classes for the community and computer classes. Rosa Casey is coordinating volunteer opportunities.
This center is funded by a grant from the Mathile Foundation.
