December 6, 2012 – The Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University and the Small Business Administration (SBA) will begin hosting a monthly training on an international trade topic. The Exporter Forum will occur on the first Thursday of each month and cover a different topic on international trade. These FREE events will take place from 7:30am-9:00am at Mason Hall on the OSU campus. The first topic will be Export Assistance: Government programs and grants. Participants will have a chance to learn about the various programs offered to companies to help them export and will hear from representatives from the SBA, State of Ohio, and the U.S. Department of Commerce. December 11, 2012 – OH! Manufacturing (a subsidiary of PolymerOhio) will be hosting a FREE workshop on Innovation Engineering in New Albany. March 5, 2013 – The Columbus Council on World Affairs will be hosting the 2013 International Awards Ceremony in Columbus. This is the Council’s premiere annual event in which they recognize the outstanding global contributions of local leaders and educators. This year’s conference will focus on the “hot markets” of India, Indonesia, Russia, and South Korea and will provide market updates, tools, and resources for U.S. companies interested in selling to or expanding into these countries. The Ohio International Market Access Grant for Exporters (IMAGE) program continues to accept applications!

IMAGE is a program funded by the State of Ohio and the U.S. Small Business Administration as part of the National Export Initiative to double U.S. exports by 2015. This program is designed to increase exports and create jobs by helping small businesses to promote their products and services in new international markets. Ohio has received additional funding for this program that will extend until September 30, 2013. There are updates to the program including increased reimbursement amounts and activities covered. Qualifying Ohio companies can apply for up to $15,000 (50% financial reimbursement on $30,000 in expenditures) to offset the costs of export-related activities such as: international trade show participation, subscription to services provided by the U.S. Commercial Service, export education programs, marketing and translation services, and international trade mission participation. Appalachian companies are eligible for almost 65% financial reimbursement (on the first $12,000 in expenditures) on the same activities. Ohio Export Internship Program – The Ohio Development Services Agency and the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University are accepting applications from companies that are looking to export for the first time or to improve their current export initiatives.
